If the campaign you're participating in requires the brand you are working with to manage an ad – or dark post – published under your Facebook or Instagram account(s), this guide can help you get started.
You can find the Ad Permissions section on your Link Accounts page.
What are Ad Permissions?
Ad Permissions are a seamless way to provide limited access to your account so a partnering brand or agency can publish an ad on your behalf.
To do this, the brand you are collaborating with will create a dark post. Dark posts will not appear in your feed; instead, they'll be shown to a targeted audience through Facebook Ads.
Linking Accounts vs. Ad Permissions
Below are the differences between linking your Meta accounts (or Instagram and Facebook) and Ad Permissions:
- Ad Permissions are for dark posts or ads only. Via their Meta Ads Manager account, the collaborating partner can publish ads through your social media profile.
- Linking your Facebook and Instagram account(s) allows your partnering brand or agency to pull content and real-time metrics for campaigns that you're participating in.
Why should I grant Ad Permissions?
Benefits
Below are some reasons you may want to provide Ad Permissions to your partnering brands and agencies:
-
Expand your audience
You'll likely be able to drive more engagement and grow your followers through dark post ads because you'll be able to reach a larger audience.
-
Engage in more long-term opportunities
Enabling Ad Permissions often helps to unlock a more seamless working relationship with a partnering brand or agency, which increases the likelihood that you'll work together again!
-
Privacy, security, and trustworthiness
When using Ad Permissions, collaborating partners will only receive limited read-only access, ensuring you have control of your account.
Requirements
⚠️ Warning
The requirements for enabling Ad Permissions are similar to linking your Instagram and Facebook account(s). To ensure your collaborator receives access through their Meta Ads Manager account, click (or Connect with Facebook) under your Link Account's Ad Permissions section.
